Hi! I’m Nathaniel English and I volunteer at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo. I help out the zookeepers with the animals. Do you want to help out the animals and the keepers? Well you can by becoming a Zoo Volunteer! Volunteer’s educate the public and help the keepers with special events, like the Easter Egg-stravaganza and the presents around Christmas time. They also have a program for kids called Zoo camp for people as old as 9th grade or 14 years of age. The 9th graders get to help out at the barn where they can handle the guinea pigs and the Bantom Hens. The younger kids get to walk around the zoo, make crafts, have snacks, and can go behind the scenes of the animal enclosures.

You can become a zoo volunteer by going to the office next to the kitchen and the surgery area and asking if you can see Ms. Elenn Voun. Ms. Voun will give you information and the dates for training,  then attend the meetings and fill out the paperwork. Once all this is completed, you can take a test on what animal you would like to represent at the zoo.
